City Mayor Bill Adams and City Chancellor Mary Banks recently announced the launch of an unprecedented initiative – the Inaugural Chefs Council.

The Chefs Council is made up of esteemed culinary masters from across the country who're dedicated to bolstering the quality of life here in our city's numerous neighborhoods. The group of talented chefs contains James Couet, former head chef at the famend Mastic eatery; Thomas Gervais, owner and government chef of the celebrated Tribeca Bistro; and Donte Bates, executive chef and proprietor of the Sugar Shack eatery downtown.

The Chefs Council’s mission is to offer culinary training, schooling, and enrichment programming for the town's food service trade. The council also goals to increase entry to nutritious, scrumptious, and sustainable food selections all through town.
